Trekking from Merton to Everest via Kathmandu

In April Marie Hollywood will be flying to Luckla (Nepal) to start on the trek to the Everest base camp which will be going via Kathmandu. It will take 10 days including breaks to get used to the climate and the increasing height.

Marie is doing this in memory of her much loved brother Brendan who suffered badly with depression who despite his mental ill health was a good looking bright and attractive man. Also this is to highlight how many people at some time in their lives go through the feelings of isolation and desperation of depression. 1 in 4 people in our community goes through it.

The money Marie raises from sponsorship will be divided between Merton Mind which provides services for people with mental health problems and Cricket green school for children and young people with special educational needs. Anyone who wants to sponsor can do it via Justgiving. This is her website

Merton Mind is this year's Mayor charity

Merton Mind would like to thank the Mayor for his support and fundraising efforts during the year.

MORE COMMUNITY USE FOR OUR BUILDINGS

Merton Mind is looking for more commuinity use for its buildings when they are not in use.

The Cumberland

The Cumberland is a very attractive single storey building with two large rooms, garden, and kitchen facilities; and is available from late afternoon, evenings and Sundays.

The building was designed to ensure complete accessibility for people with disabilities.  There is some parking space.

The Fair Green Centre

The Fair Green Centre is very accessible for bus routes in central Mitcham, and can provide a ground floor meeting room with adjacent tea and coffee making facilities.  It's available some mornings, afternoons and evenings during the week.

We do not charge but donations are acceptable.
