History
Merton Mind was formed at an inaugural meeting on the 10th February 1978. The meeting was chaired by Ted Higgins, who was also heavily involved in the work of Merton Mind from the start.
Merton Mind had traditionally developed its Services for two specific client groups, Adult Services for people with Mental Health problems aged 18-65 and Elderly Services aged 65 and over.
Philosophy
Merton Mind is working to promote good mental health in the community.
Merton Mind is committed to supporting and empowering people with mental health problems to enable them and their carers to lead a full life and to participate in the community.
In promoting mental health and providing practical and emotional support to people with mental health problems, Merton Mind is committed to the principle of full involvement of mental service users in the planning and monitoring of service provision.
Merton Mind aims to offer equality of opportunity to all both in service provision and employment.
